June 2007

Today is the beginning of a whole new era for us! We have finally succumbed to the world of blogging and decided that it was about time to set up our own site. The main reason for doing this is because we are are about to go through a life-changing event in about 3 months and thought a lot of family and friends would like to see what you get when you mix a “Kevin” and a “Claudie”!.

So who is Kevin and who is Claudie? Kevin was born in Singapore in 1969 (yes, a very long time ago) and got married to a young chick called Claudie who was born half way across the world in Egypt in 1978…that’s 9 years difference for anyone who’s counting. So where do you think these two geeks from such disparate places as Egypt and Singapore meet? In a laboratory of course. We were working there; we were not the subjects!

We were married after a whirlwind romance in 2003 and have steadily progressed along the stereotypical path… we bought a house a year later and then almost completely demolished it for fun. We think that we have done a wonderful job in rebuilding the house, if we do say so ourselves. – photos following when we get organised -

The next step is nesting. As substitutes, we have cats (2). Kevin’s old favorite “Kat” (aka “Samantha”, aka “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) followed him from his parent’s place. She is a loving pet and always wants to be where we are (currently, she is sleeping on our computer tower). She is now approaching comfortable old age except for the fact of….

Nala (aka “Nala-baby”, aka “Little Sh!t”). We will have a section on this little terror later. She is a Bengal-Burmese cross and we think that she has taken the best (ie worst) characteristics from both strains! She is highly active, loves water, very emotionally needy, but most of all, a trouble-maker of the fun variety (we almost crushed her under our dishwasher, but more about that later).

And now, for the real thing! We have just over 3 months to prepare (or panic) for the biggest change of our life. Of course our life (and this blog) is going to be dominated by the little one soon, so for now we’ll tell you about how we’re trying to live out the last days of freedom.
